The media frenzy since the Chelsea Flower Show has been rather overwhelming and Mike has been very busy talking to various publications.
The essence is we have hit a nerve about the lack of lawns at Chelsea and it looks like there could be some changes. We will keep you posted.

In a way our site is still in beta and as it develops we would love your interaction.

In a move set to put the 'Great' into the British Lawn, Mike Seaton Founder of the Lawn Society, has fired a broadside across the bows of the organisers at the Chelsea Flower Show by insisting that Lawns, the centre feature of nearly every garden, be added as a category at the world famous show.
Mike quite rightly insists that lawns have been treated by the Royal Horticultural Society as the poor relation and, whilst the society pushes hard the importance of trees, shrubs and plants, they ignore on of the major drivers of the horticultural industry.

Turf care operators have been governed by regulations under COSSH and the environmental protection act for a long time but these rules have not extended themselves to the home gardener although a duty of care remains and you could answer to a negligence case if you polluted a water course etc.
What about the moral issues and perhaps more importantly the wife's bedding plants which soften the edges to your lawn?

In a move designed to highlight open spaces in the City, Trafalgar square has seen a makeover with the laying of over 2000 square metres of turf.
The turf has been shipped in from the Vale of York and will remain in Trafalgar square for two days to allow visitors the chance to taste open spaces in the 'Village of London' before it is lifted and moved to Bishops Park in Hammersmith and Fulham.
