Installing a fake plastic lawn or real turf?
Every Mans home is his castle and making up the largest part of the landscaped grounds around the bricks and mortar will be a nice natural turf lawn. The lawn is nearly always the largest part of a garden but the one aspect of soft landscaping that is least understood by amateur and professional lawn owners alike.
There has been a dramatic rise in the use of artificial grass for key areas in landscaping and in gardens and lawn areas once occupied by thousands of grass plants has been replaced by plastic.
Artificial grass has rolled out across 120 branches nationwide. B & Q the largest chain of DIY Outlets, estimates it will sell over 10,000sq m of artificial grass this year, primarily for indoor use.
Artificial lawns have a place in gardens, particularly small gardens where a natural lawn may be unsuitable such as in London or in a Town where light, shade, wear, moisture, air flow pose a problem.
They are not however maintenance free and correct construction and underlay materials are so important. They will still require a certain level of cleaning, weed control, moss control and ‘top dressing’ if sand filled. There are many suppliers of the artificial carpet material and artificial lawn installers who will also provide an annual after care maintenance service to keep your plastic grass in tiptop condition.

Artificial Lawn Suppliers:
Artificial turf can withstand significantly more use than natural grass and can therefore be used much more frequently. This allows sports ground owners to generate more income from their facilities.
Reply - totally agree. Despite the high cost of iinstallation, the actual cost per hours use is far greater and it is available almost everyday of the year.

I had a real lawn and switched to an artificial one when I got my new dog, the garden is so much easier to maintain, it doesn't trape the mud from the grass through the house and cleaning up Monsters little messes has never been easier!
If anyone is worried about regretting the descision to switch to artificial grass then they will not, no complaints at all from me, the Mrs or the little toddler.
Next up on my home improvement list is some railway sleeper decking!

Planning for the installation is one of the most important parts of the process. If the grass, drainage system, or other parts of this system aren't installed correctly, it could lead to big headaches in the future. First and foremost, you have to remember to do only what you are capable of.
Reply - thank you, well said. Great lawn advice is everything.

It is no wonder that fake grass is becoming such a popular landscaping option for homeowners and businesses alike. Comparatively, a real lawn is a drain on time, energy, money, and the environment.
Reply - we disagree. A new lawn if maintained correctly will give years of service. Biggest failing is not feeding a new lawn a few weeks following installation and then keeping up the regular every three months applications throughout the year.

I agree with you artificial grass. I prefer natural than artificial one. It brings more goodness and beauty to the garden.
Reply - we agree and natural grass is better for reducing the carbon footprint of a home too.

Natural is always the best. If the grass is natural it helps in refreshing your environment. And there is no need for you to give much attention for they could survive with their own. Unlike artificial grass, which needs constant visitation to see if it is still good to look and in good condition.
Reply - totally agree.

I feel there are some advantages of artificial grass than the natural grass. They are environment friendly, it has no chemicals, requires no water to keep it look alive and this save you from water bill. It can withstand high temperatures, heavy rain, and cold winters. In many instances of use it is known to have facilitated drainage during a downpour.
Reply - thanks but it is still not maintenance free....

If you look on the advantages that you can get using synthetic turf then definitely you will choose such. Specially when it comes to financial issues, artificial grass have no more maintenance unlike real one.
Reply - we disagree sadly. Artificial lawns do require some maintenance. Maybe not in the first or second year but they will require some seasonal treatments of weed control and algae and moss control, especially if sand filled.

From what I have seen these turf lawns stay nicely in place, not to mention green all year round. I am already looking into putting my own in. With the water savings and no need to mow of fertilize it it really is a no brainier. From what I have seen the product also drains really well and makes it very easy for removal of leaves. Overall this is the way to go.
