Professional versus DIY lawn care treatments

The_lawn_company_2Maintaining a lawn is definitely a science and like any science, it will have varying degrees of complexity.

There are many good ameteur groundsman who have a lawn that might be the envy of his peers. However, it is not something that all amateurs have time for or indeed can quite get to grips with.

One very important factor, when dealing with lawn treatments is the ability to apply professional strength products. Unless you take the time and invest in a certificate of competence, it is very unlikely that you will be able (legally) to obtain materials that will do what you want.

The heading of this post is a frequently asked question at The Lawn Company. We are asked it so often that we even include it, strangely enough, as a heading on our frequently asked questions page.

In our experience, it is not always in the interest of the home lawn care enthusiast to attempt to go it alone. Rather than buying a branded lawn care product from the local garden centre that quite frankly, does not cut the mustard.

We understand the active ingredients of the various chemicals available in the market place to sole a particular problem. We have to follow stringent legislation concerning the environment, plants and prevailing weather conditions to ensure that these products are applied in a professional manner at all times not only to gain maximum results but to ensure that our actions do not affect any third party - person, animal or environment.

We understand chemicals, wind speed and drift (and our responsibilities). We also understand ground conditions and how to predict what might be about influence your lawn.

This may well sound like an advertisement for our services but in essence it is more of an explanation of how more cost effective, in the long run, a correctly and carefully calibrated application, of the right material at the right time can have on your lawn.
