Lawn Blog - the place to visit for lawn advice

Lawn BlogA lawn traditionally makes up the largest number of square metres of a garden and is sadly the most neglected part of a garden. A web based source of consistent, timely, reliable and professional lawn advice is so important and an aspect that has been lacking in the media and at the frustration of many a lawn owner.

So what is a blog? And why a lawn blog? A blog (a contraction of the term weblog) is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on art (artlog), photographs (photoblog), sketches (sketchblog), videos (vlog), music (MP3 blog), audio (podcasting), which are part of a wider network of social media. Micro-blogging is another type of blogging, one which consists of blogs with very short posts. As of December 2007, blog search engine Technorati was tracking more than 112 million blogs. With the advent of video blogging, the word blog has taken on an even looser meaning — that of any bit of media wherein the subject expresses his opinion or simply talks about something.

The White House has it's own blog with President Barack Obama pets, namely the family dog, Bo, seen in one of the pictures on the blog rolling around on the South Lawn of the White House for the world to see. We all love a bit of grass!

So what of British Lawn Blogs? The UKIP political party have a blog entry entitled The Blog from Under The Lawn with their reporter 'Purple Mole'. The BBC's Pippa Greenwood attempting to answer a lawn query on the BBC Gardeners World Blog back in January this year. you could take a quick look at the Business Green Blog, trying to define what constitutes a green company - a tough task.

If you yearn for a plastic lawn, consider The Artificial Lawn Blog. The Scotts Company, the largest lawn care products company in the world and responsible for the Evergreen Range of Lawn Care Fertilisers and Products and the Scotts Lawn Builder Range of Lawn Fertiliser and Treatments received a request from one frustrated or keen lawn owner "Has anyone thought of running a lawn care blog here? Just thought it may be a good idea to do a daily/weekly/monthly blog on what they are doing to their lawns?"
