Not out of the woods yet

Spring Lawn Care - Lawn Shop We are all waiting for that weekend when you can reconnect with the garden and review the winter damage of the lawn. We have been close several times this month already but just as we seem to get to a point where we receive some warmish watery winter sunshine, less cold wind chill and some plus temperatures, the weather seems to quickly knock us back again with a very minus feels like minus 7 wind chill.

A one degree increase in temperature will double the metabolic rate of growth of garden plants so a really cold winter will assist in the promotion of growth of the grass plants and other garden plants as soon as the temperature warms up a bit. Here's hoping that it will be soon :-)

The big chill is set to tighten its grip over the weekend report The Daily Mail today as forecasters say we could be on for the coldest February in nearly 25 years.

Temperatures in the first two weeks of the month averaged just 2.1c (35.8f) - meaning Britain has been far colder than Vancouver, where the organisers of the Winter Olympics have been forced to truck in snow.

The freezing conditions will continue over the weekend with some areas experiencing overnight lows of -6c (21f) and could see fresh disruption to roads and railways as snow returns to some parts. Read more on the Daily Mail story.

The Grass Clippings Team have written a few articles about Winter Lawn Care and When to Start Mowing Your Lawn in the Spring and when to start Applying Lawn Treatments.

So over the next week, take a browse of the lawn care products that The Lawn Shop Team have available and then you can hit the ground running when we see around 8 degrees celsius on the thermometer.

In the meantime, Herbert the Jack Russell is warming to the thought of laying on a nice green dryish lawn again taking the 'air' woof!
