Easter Lawn Care

Lawn Treatment - Easter Lawn Care Just as we thought that the weather was getting better, looks like we are in for a traditional British Easter holiday with a return of the cold weather and sleet and snow.

Just in case you manage to get out into the garden this weekend, spare a thought for your poor old lawn.

The harshest winter for 31 years has turned the green green grass of home a little brown and tired looking and your lawn would have taken a battering like so many lawns in the United Kingdom.

If you have not mown your lawn yet this spring, blow the dust of the lawn mower, check the oil etc and fire it up and take the top off the lawn to tidy it up, around 25% of the vegetation. Mowing alone will provide some much needed colour to the lawn in a few days following mowing.

Once you have mown, take a hard look at the lawn. Make an assessment of the percentage of weeds, weed grasses and moss and plan your lawn treatment programme.

Now is the time to fertilise your lawn and to treat any moss. The iron content in any lawn treatment product will also quickly colour up the turf grasses and 'lift' the visual appearance of the lawn.

The grass has coloured up quite a lot over the past few weeks with a drop in the cold winds and a bit of warmish sunshine and there will be a need for a bit of scarification and aeration, and if all esle fails, aerate, aerate and aerate and feed, feed, feed.

If the weather is wet, buy a copy of this Lawn Book and stay in front of the fire :-)
