The wettest drought on record....

Grassclippings - Wettest April on RecordIt is expected to be the wettest day of the year today, with a month's worth of rain falling in Britain in just 24 hours.

April could turn out to be the wettest on record yet the drought restrictions may stay in place until December.

And today, the UK's weather looked to be following forecasters' predictions as the heavy rain and high winds swept across England and Wales.

Many parts of Britain were due to get about two inches (50mm) of rain in a day - the normal amount for a whole month. The bad weather is expected to continue well into Thursday, with thunder and hail in some parts.

Around three inches (75mm) of rain have already fallen this month and another three are expected over the next week.  Not bad for a drought!

'Today is set to be a very wet day with gales along the south coast,' said Charles Powell, of the Met Office.  'In parts of southern England there could be up to two inches of rain.  A severe weather warning has been issued for some areas where there may be poor driving conditions and surface flooding.  Thursday and Friday will see a mixture of sun and showers.'

The cold wet weather is expected to continue into the weekend and even into May next week.

I for one have not mown my lawns since before Easter and I have not heard a lawn mower locally or seen a Landscaper mowing a lawn either during this time.  It is important to take advantage of the soil moisture when it finally stops raining so below are some related topics to help your lawn on its way when you finally manage to get out into the garden.

Spare a thought for those whose business activity is at the peril of the weather during weeks of rainfall.  Although much needed, the work schedule of The Lawn Company is really stacking up!
