Has Spring arrived?
Last weekend was probably the first nice weekend weather wise to get out in your garden and see how it all survived the very wet autumn and winter.
Today, the weather in the South of the UK is a balmy warm 15 degrees. This weekend looks a little the same temperature wise but with some much welcome rain mid-week.
This time last year, we were talking about hose pipe bans. It's been the wettest drought on record and lawns and gardens have really suffered along with the tourist industry and enjoying the great outdoors.
Once mown, take a long hard look at the surface vegetation, which will include all or some of the following - desirable, turf grasses, weed grasses, weeds, moss and worm casts.
Now is the time to treat your lawn for moss by applying Soluble Iron and the Lawn Worm Casts can also be controlled. Once we get some rain the worm population and activity will greatly increase, leaving unsightly mounds of soil on the surface of the lawn. You should also be considering giving your lawn its initial spring fertiliser feed and then re apply every three months throughout the year.
