Lawn of The Year Competition

Grassclippings - Daily Telegraph Lawn Competition - Mike LeeEntries for the DailyTelegraph’s lawn of the year competition, with Allett’s lawnmowers, have been flying in, and have coincided with a period of fantastic hot weather.

Combined with Andy Murray’s victory at Wimbledon, it is becoming a bumper year for British grass.

Among the entries so far are a tribute to the Queen, a stylised flower and the owner’s initials, as well as the usual collection of stripes. Some lawns are checked, others neatly two-tone, some an abstract pattern.

So strong has the summer been for lawns that we are extending the closing date until the end of August. There is still time to be creative with your sward, and win a first prize of an Allett Complete Lawncare System, including an Kensington mower, worth £2,485. There is also a second prize of a Kensington mower on its own, and a third prize of a classic cylinder mower.

To enter, send a good quality picture of your lawn, showing the creative design, to telegraph competition@allett.co.uk, with your name, address and telephone number. The winners will be chosen by Allett’s team of lawn experts, including Martin Fish, author of Collins Practical Gardener – Lawns.

The closing date for entries is noon on August 31. Terms and conditions apply. Winners will also need to submit a picture of themselves with their prize (01889 271503).
