Time to aerate your lawns
It's been really wet in October and November and your lawn is crying out for some air!
Most lawn owners probably did not venture out into their gardens during the wet weekends of late but now the weather has dried up just a little, gardeners are getting to grips with their winter lawn care tasks ahead of the Christmas Holiday season.
Sadly, lawn aeration - some prefer to call it spiking or tining - is the very last thing that gets attention at this this time of year. Maybe because it is a procedure that will not create an instant effect or tangible result in a short space of time.
There are many benefits from aerating your lawn and it is one mechanical task that should be performed throughout the autumn and winter months - in fact monthly throughout the year unless the weather and lawn's surface is very dry and hard.
Should your regular lawn treatment company tell you that it's an ideal time to scarify your lawn - it isn't so don't let them do it as the grass will not recover easily from the scarification process especially as the last two months were very wet.
An ideal time to aerate your lawn is now and again in the spring time. How to aerate your lawn
