Lawn mower noise on a Sunday

Grass Clippings - Grumpy Old Lawn OwnerWe get a lot of comments on this lawn advice blog.  Most are lawn owners seeking answers to lawn dilemmas.

Occassionally, we get some thought provoking observations of life...

Woody says: 'I wonder sometimes if I'm the only one with ears on our street.

It's so noisy every bank holiday and every Sunday morning. Many of my neighbours have opted for petrol mowers or electric hover mowers, why I cannot imagine, none of their lawns can be more than 10 feet by 10. I could mow them with my Dad's old pre war push cylinder mower in 10 minutes flat.

Then just to spoil my day the council come along to mow the grass on the pavement with ride on mowers, belching filthy fumes, honking like a parrot each time they reverse and later, following them are a couple more council vandals with flippin petrol engine blowers, sounding like a fleet of hells angels , blowing the cuttings around, not actually collecting them, but just blowing it around... I'm off back to work for some peace n quiet.'

Reply - now that's quite funny. Thank you Woody.  It is annoying that as soon as you sit down outside to enjoy the sunshine someone sparks up a lawn mower or strimmer. I seem to recall that Sundays were a 'silent' day and mowing lawns was not allowed.
